I don't think there's much I can add here that hasn't already been said, but this was brilliant from the first frame to the last - even something as simple as the font and signage used for the seizure warning was delightful. Zeurel's one of my biggest inspirations when it comes to animation, and he provides some top-notch art direction here. His style shines through so well, and all the animators involved did a great job of matching his work to create a cohesive whole.

The general framing of the plot/setting reminded me a lot of Cowboy Bebop, but the zany style definitely gives it its own identity. Every scene in the montages, along with the main story itself, did a good job of fleshing out the world - plus, the characters and the performances the VAs put in kept me gripped right up until the end.

This is such a great example of best-in-class web animation, between the character designs, animation, framing, color, editing, music, SFX, and more, I could 100% see this being studied in art classes.

If I really had to stretch to find something to criticize, I'd say that I wish a different icon was chosen for the site submission. With so many great, colorful, expressive shots in this show, it feels strange to not showcase that in the thumbnail; the one used right now is a bit bland compared to the wild style show. In the grand scheme of things, though, that's so minor, it's negligible.

All in all, I loved every second of this, and I get the feeling that a lot of love went into making it. This was fantastic, and I can't wait to see what's next!

I've been loving this series! I binged it earlier, and can't wait to see where it goes next. This has probably been my favorite episode so far - it does a great job of tapping into the themes that started coming up in earlier episodes, like the sense of hopelessness and learned helplessness that comes with plenty of corporate jobs. There were a couple of spots that were a little too on-the-nose for me personally, but all in all, I've found it really easy to relate to Mae's struggles. Trying to make a relatable story in such an abstract, surreal world must be tough, so great job there! Speaking of abstract, the visuals and sound go really well with the world here, too. Love it!

I'm so glad you liked it! Thank you so much for the compliment. I usually like to make my art a little more subtle, but I purposefully chose an "on-the-nose" approach to this episode's themes, often for the sake of comedy.

This was a ton of fun, I loved it! It's great to see this scene still going strong on NG. By the way, what's the name of the song from WTF Toadies! (starts around 1:40)? It's so familiar, I just can't put my finger on it.

This is dope! I saw you explained that you made the assets in grayscale for production reasons, but it came across as a creative decision that worked REALLY well in the final product, it works so well for the mood. The music was so unsettling too, you really nailed the "spooky" aspect of the jam and the season. It was great to see so many different options too, and they all looked good and fit the mood and character. To tie it all up, the floating animation really sold the idea that she was floating in this liquid. Awesome job!

A bit scarce as far as content go, but I think there's still some enjoyment to be had here. The character art works well, and it was nice that you could be very particular about what items (i.e. hood, gloves) showed up and which didn't. A color wheel where you could select any color on the spectrum instead of the pre-selected ones would've been cool, though. I also thought that your solution for selecting body parts, *then* selecting their color, made a lot of sense. It lets you keep everything on-screen at once to cut down on the number of menus you have to go digging through.

As far as the rest of the UI/UX goes, having the color selector in the main menu really confused me for a bit, I thought it was interactive. It also might be a good idea to have the music play by default, then let the user silence it if they choose, instead of defaulting to silence. The playback quality also seemed very low; maybe a bitrate issue?

One last note: I really liked how detailed the instructions were; you could even tweak them to recommend that people take a screen cap with the Print Screen key on their keyboard if they want to save a pic of their character.

This was a decent start! I thought all the artwork was really cute, and the story drew me in. Plus, the story mode seems pretty ambitious for a jam game, considering there are all those places I'm assuming you'll go once the game gets updated. Plus, not only are you making sprites for the dress-up portion, but for all the character movements during the story mode too, I can't imagine it's easy piecing that all together. One thing that frustrated me though was seeing that this isn't playable on mobile; that felt strange considering all the input could be done with a mouse. The movement and jumping during the story mode seems like the exception, but (at least at this point, I don't know if it changes later in the story) it seems like you don't need to be making super precise movements, so on-screen arrows and a jump button seem like they would work.

Im glad you liked my art :) , i wanted to keep it simple to work on it faster, and yes i draw each frame of each costume part and sync it with the character.

Didn't got enough time to add the first level and atleast 2 more costumes for the story mode as i originaly wanted.

Also decided to leave the mobile compatibility for the last as it wasn't crutial and i needed to figure out how to adapt the controls correctly.

Also something happens if you press E as a ghost.

This was so much fun! One of my favorite things about the way this was structured was the variety (i.e. having the stories broken up by ad placements or songs). When it comes to the stories themselves, some of my faves were The Best Bad Date, At the Foot of the Bed, I'm a Simp for You, the Italian Sob, Premature Health Group, and ASMR You Kidding Me. Great work from everyone here, you outdid yourselves!

I absolutely loved this! It's one of those songs that took me a few listens to really appreciate, but after everything clicked into place for me, I couldn't get enough.

In the context of the original song, it's funny, because I had totally forgotten that Endless Handbag was a full song - I only remembered the 8 second loop before seeing the full track again in Related Audio. After my first listen of this song, I thought, "This is really cool, but man, this is a big song for something inspired by an 8 second loop!" I read a little more, though, and re-discovered the original. Then, everything made more sense, and I was able to appreciate not only how this feels faithful to that track, but sort of weaves its way through time. The drumming, guitar work, and organ reminded me of rock acts like Queen and King Crimson.

What's really exciting about this to me, though, is how this uses the original song as a base, but still runs away with something wild, exciting, and creative. That in itself feels like it taps into the spirit of Newgrounds so well - taking inspiration from what came before, but still going to new, ambitious places. I'm starting to ramble, but in short - great work!

This is really cool! It felt like this great big blend of moods to me: adventurous, ominous, mysterious, optimistic, uncertain... it felt like there was a story being told here, with a solid start, middle, and end. This would make a great track in a game or a movie. It actually reminded me a lot of the track Red Soil from the Metroid series, funny enough - both in terms of the mood and the music itself.

Oh, and I know where you're coming from in the author comments. For me, "occurrence" is just one of those words that's never gonna come out right for me without spell check. It just sounds to me like it'd be "occurance", y'know?

I appreciate this lovely comment. The beginning actually uses radio emissions from Mars to create the eerie tone. You can do this to "listen" to all the planets and even the Sun. Pretty neat. And Metroid was definitely a big influence for this album and this track especially.

And yes, words are hard >.<

This was a joy to watch, especially with Droid's song in the background! My favorite shot was the one with all of them hanging out in the cabin; you did a great job of showing each character's personality in just a few moments (it also took a few loops for me to notice the ghostly guy on the rug - there's the beauty in watching this more than once). Another thing that really grabbed my attention was the subtle camera movement; it can be easy to miss, but it really does go a long way in making the scenes feel even more lively. Great work!

I love this! It's great to see a submission that didn't use the typical imagery of summer, but was still able to convincingly portray the season thanks to the warm color palette. The choice in song was great, too - it paired so well with the art and the story in the bio! All in all, I think you did a really good job of translating your real-life experience with these characters. (Oh, and I love the easter eggs in the billboards!)

Just one question: what are the green and red lights down in the lower left corner there?

I love, love, love it! My favorite thing about it is how truly alien these designs are. I feel like you can see bits and pieces of inspiration drawn from animals on earth, but the shapes, textures, and colors are so out-there, it just grabs my imagination. Plus, the composition and juxtaposition of what I think are organic ships up there draw me in, and make me imagine what kind of story is going on here - are these creatures that are the result of genetic molding and sculpting, like all the races from All Tomorrows? Or is there a planet with such strange properties, these are just the natural result? Everything about this is just awesome.

Plus, you can never go wrong with melting popsicles for flora.
